Discovery Days
Discovery Days at the Longmont Museum and Cultural Center returns September 4th! This is a great arts and crafts time for 2 to 5 year olds to attend with a parent, grandparent, nanny, etc. It's great fun, cheap (they ask for a $1 or so donation) and they leave with several finished crafts at the end of each day! Discover Day sessions are held on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Fridays from 9-10:15, 10:15-11:30, or 12:30 – 2 p.m. See this pdf for the schedule and weekly themes: http://www.ci.longmont.co.us/museum/education/pdfs/discoveryDays2007.pdf.

Pumpkin Patches!
What would Fall be without a trip to every pumpkin patch within 50 miles to take pictures of your little one trying to pick up pumpkins that weigh more than they do? Haha - maybe that's just our family! I think I have more pictures of my kids at pumpkin patches than any other location - maybe even including our home! :) Here are some great farms to choose from...
Rocky Mountain Pumpkin Ranch - our favorite! They have delicious pumpkin bread, carnival rides on the weekends and perfect spots for taking pictures of your little pumpkins :)
Burch Maze - three tough mazes, petting zoo, etc.
Pumpkins n More Farms - I know, not in Longmont but worth the drive! Great maze, lots of pumpkins and activities
Anderson Farms - again, not in Longmont but worth the drive for the maze, wagon rides, farm animals and pumpkins galore!
Those are some of our local favorites. If you want more options around Colorado, check out this site for a great list!

Huge Kids Consignment Sale
HUGE 5 DAY SALE!!! August 24-28, 2007 at the Boulder County Fairgrounds (on the corner of Nelson and Hover). Admission is free and the sale is open to the public Friday through Tuesday from 9 am to 7 pm. Tuesday is half price day - half off most items! You can shop early if you consign. For more info, go the the Just Between Friends (JBF) website.
My two cents? It's a great sale (as a consignor, volunteer and/or shopper) but be super careful about what you buy - they allow pretty much anything in so make sure you're not buying something with stains or holes. There are definitely some bargains to be found on higher end clothes but watch out for the Target and Walmart brands as you can probably find them for the same price or cheaper at the actual store. This is a great place for expectant moms as there are tons of baby clothes, toys, and equipment (strollers, cribs, etc). If you're looking for something big (stroller, play structure), I'd recommend consigning at least a few items or volunteering during the sale sometime so you can shop early!

Blizzards
Sorry for the late notice, but today is Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen! For every blizzard you buy Dairy Queen will make a donation (the price of the blizzard minus the cost of the ingredients) to Children's Miracle Network.
