From a Longmont Museum email...
You're invited to two special events where your entire family can have fun while helping Discovery Days!
1. Eat Up! On Monday, August 4, Texas Roadhouse will donate 10 percent of all dinner receipts to the Discovery Days program. Texas Roadhouse, located at 2351 Clover Basin Drive in Longmont, is open for dinner from 4 to 10 pm, and call-ahead seating is available at 303-774-1491. Check out the menu, and come hungry!
2. Miss Stephanie's House-building Workshop
Join Miss Stephanie on Saturday, August 23, from 9 am to noon to build your own playhouse just like the one in the Discovery Days room. Miss Stephanie will provide tips and suggestions and lots of materials, including a basic painted "house" for each family, paint, door knobs, and curtain fabric. You provide your family, in clothes that can get messy, and items you would like to use to personalize your house: posters, wallpaper, stick-on letters, or anything else that will make it special for your children. The cost is only $40, and the workshop is limited to 15 families, so register early! Call the Museum at 303-651-8374 by Saturday, August 10, to sign up for this fun, creative family activity.
**Don't Forget... Discovery Days begins for the 2008-2009 school year on September 2.
Discovery Days is an interactive program that encourages parent-child interaction through weekly themed arts and crafts.
Discovery Days is open to the public every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday during the school year with three sessions each day:
Session I: 9 - 10:15 am
Session II: 10:15 - 11:30 am
Session III: 12:30 - 2 pm
Cost: $3 per child
Located at the Longmont Museum
400 Quail Road
Longmont, CO 80501
303-651-8374
If you've never been to Discovery Days and you have a child who is approximately 2 to 5 years old, you should definitely check it out! It's such a great program that encourages our little ones to explore different art techniques and they get to take home several projects each time! Miss Stephanie is incredibly creative and comes up with the greatest projects using a lot of re-purposed materials!
