4th of July
Can you believe the 4th is next week? Where did June go anyway?
Fireworks over the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont will start around 9:30 and are best viewed within a one mile radius of the fairgrounds. You can't park at the fairgrounds but you can park at the mall or at a shopping center (King Soopers, Target, etc) and either watch from there or walk closer. Parking fills up fast and it takes FOREVER to get out of there but it's worth the hassle - the show is great!
There's a full listing of area fireworks displays at http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/13525136/detail.html and http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=20341 (though Longmont in mysteriously missing from this one - hmm). Enjoy! And Happy Independence Day!

Need Longmont Childcare Referrals?
If you need some help finding childcare in Longmont, try these options:
Boulder County Family Child Care Association - A network of home daycares. For some reason they have "referral agents" for North Longmont and South Longmont (is Longmont really that big? No!). Anyway, if you're in North Longmont contact Nancy Tidwell at 303-651-1539 or tdt1906@aol.com. For South Longmont, try Martha Goebel at 303-678-8717.
Community Resource and Referral Service - A service sponsored by the City of Boulder but they provide information on licensed home daycares as well as daycare centers throughout Boulder County. They e-mail you a list of providers meeting your criteria (part-time/full-time, age of your child, home/center/both, pets/no pets, etc) and also valuable information on what to look for in a childcare provider. You can submit your criteria through their website or contact Judy Fry at 303-441-3564 or fryj@bouldercolorado.gov.
Update 7/26/07 - there's also a good list on this site: http://www.colorado.edu/humres/downloads/childcare.xls. Scroll down to view childcare options in Longmont.
Good luck!

Longmont Parks
Did you know that there are more than 30 city parks in Longmont and countless neighborhood parks? Check out the list at http://www.ci.longmont.co.us/parks/park_list/overview/index.htm. Some of our favorites are Stephen Day, Willow Farm, Rough and Ready and Sandstone Ranch. We haven't yet been to Blue Skies but we're looking forward to it! Which park is your favorite?
Cool down at the pool!
With all this hot weather we've been enjoying (is that the word for it?), you might be looking for a place to cool down with the little ones. The City of Longmont has five pools, three of them outdoors, which are perfect for hot days! See http://www.ci.longmont.co.us/rec/swimming/index.htm for more info. Don't forget that they also offer swim lessons for babies on up to adults!
Longmont Public Library summer reading program
Kids ages 2 through 4th grade can earn rewards for reading over the summer! Stop by the library's Children's desk for a Reading Record and then keep track of your reading. Rewards include a free Kid's meal at IHOP and the Texas Roadhouse and a free paperback book! See http://www.ci.longmont.co.us/library/childrens/documents/eng_srp.pdf for more info (that page also shows the days and times for children's storytimes)!

Longmont Area Moms Groups

Welcome!
Hello! In this blog I hope I am able to present information that may be helpful to my fellow moms in Longmont, Colorado. It will include information on upcoming events, kid-friendly restaurants, and ways to meet other moms. I've found over the last several years (while parenting my own two boys) that there's a lot of information out there but it's hard to find! I'll attempt to bring that all to you in one place :) Any suggestions or questions? Leave me a comment! I'd love to know you're here!
